The Milton Housing Authority provides safe, decent and affordable rental housing opportunities for the residents of Santa Rosa County, Florida.

MHA provides housing for low income families.

Milton Housing Authority was formed February 13, 1961 by Resolution Number 1 of the City of Milton, Florida, under Chapter 421, Part 1, Section 421.04 of the Florida Statutes. MHA has 39 apartments located in scattered sites in the City of Milton. The Authority also holds 348 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, which enable tenants to secure residences anywhere within the boundaries of Santa Rosa County, Florida. MHA is headed by an Executive Director and is governed by a five member Board of Commissioners. The board members are appointed by the mayor of the City of Milton. However, the Authority operates under separate By-Laws and is independent of the City of Milton.

Rent is calculated based on approximately 30% of the resident’s income as established by Title 24 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Subsidies are calculated by a complex formula based on household composition and bedroom size of the dwelling.
